What is Scavo glass? Scavo glass originated in Venice, Italy, specifically on the island of Murano. The technique was developed and introduced in the 1940s and 1950s by artisans like Alfredo Barbini and the Cenedese factory, who created the "dug up" effect to imitate ancient Roman and Etruscan archaeological finds. While it was invented in Murano, the technique is now practiced all over the world.
Meaning: "Scavo" is Italian for "dug up" Purpose: To recreate the weathered, mineralized appearance of ancient, excavated Roman and Etruscan glass artifacts
Condition: No chips, cracks. Some tiny specs in the glass, see pictures.
