Unique and beautiful, set of eight (8), Fornasetti, porcelain coasters or mini plates in their original box. Made in Italy in the 1960's. This set titled, "Autografi" was designed by Italian artist and designer, Piero Fornasetti. Each plate displays a lithograph printed signature of a famous Italian person, on gold gilt ground.
Autographs include the following: Benvenuto Cellini - Goldsmith, Sculptor, Author Galileo - Astronomer Garibaldi - Former Deputy of Italy, General Leonardo (da Vinci) - Artist Michelangelo - Sculptor, Painter, Architect Paganini - Composer Raphaello - Painter /Architect Giuseppe Verdi - Composer Plates are marked on the bottom with the company logo, "Fornasetti Milano, Made in Italy" with an image of a hand holding a paintbrush.
Each plate measures approximately 4" across x about 1/2" tall. Box measures about 4-1/2" across x 2-7/8" tall
All plates are in good, previously owned, vintage condition with a few minor scratches and scuffs. Some slight wear to the gold gilt noted on most of the plates but no major paint loss and graphics are intact. The is a small scratch on one plate (Verdi), and a small chip with some crazing on one plate (Benvenuto Cellini) as seen in the last 2 pictures above. No other cracks, chips or breaks noted.
