Details

Versatile multipurpose bowl/baking dish by regional redware pottery artist Olive Welden. Olive was born in Canada but raised in Pennsylvania where she began making Pennsylvania Dutch style motto pottery. She later moved to Tennessee but primarily sold her pottery in Seagrove NC. She died in the early 1960s so this piece is at least that old.

Features an incised motto on one side, "When we on simple rations sup - how easy is the washing up" and a distelfink type bird and folk style tulip flowers on the other. Signed on the side and the bottom. She advertised these as oven safe.

Approx size: 7" w x 3.5" h, great for quiche or souffle

Condition: Excellent, one tiny chip in the rim - see photos.

A Thing of Beauty Vintage Finds

    Selling since November 2023

Hi, I'm Cynthia. I am a shop owner with 10+ years of experience. I do everything within my power, including packing with great care and shipping fully insured, to get your "thing of beauty" to you safely. I shop the fine estate sales and auctions in the horse country of north Georgia, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and bring them to you, the beholder.

I was raised in a home where bone china, silver and fine crystal were both used and appreciated. This translated into a love of antiques and handmade items of similar quality. I love the journey that leads me to these beautiful things and I hope you will enjoy my "finds" as much as I have enjoyed finding them.

Please feel free to reach out to me via text or email with any questions you may have. I am frequently hiking on the weekends so your best chance of a speedy response will be during weekday business hours.

Follow me on FB and Instagram where I share additional information on the creation/history of my items.

Helping you find your thing of beauty, Cynthia
