Details
A heavy, solid glass crested bird paperweight. The glass is clear with a dense, internal coloring that shifts between blue and purple depending on the light source, plus a deep red internal core. The piece is highly polished and smooth, often indicative of Venetian or similar studio art glass. The color-changing quality (sometimes called Neodymium glass or Alexandrite glass) and the bird style are most often associated with the Murano glassworks in Italy. Figurative paperweights like this were popular items in the Mid-Century Modern decorative market. Similar pieces were made by factories such as Seguso or attributed to designers like Galliano Ferro. The piece is unsigned with designer unconfirmed. The size is approx. 6.75" tall x 3.5" wide. with no issues in excellent condition.

I'm excited to share my vintage and unique finds from glass paperweights, art glass vases and pottery to fun figurines in ceramic, porcelain, and glass. When I'm not searching for the next great piece, I love spending time with my wonderful hubby, Chip and our dog, Oliver, or getting creative with my scrapbooking projects.
