Details
This is an interesting piece of artwork done on Montana Marble. Dated 1991 by artist Shelly Gardipee. It is an oval piece of cultured marble measuring 4 and 1/4 inches by 3 and 1/4 inches. It sits in a little stand also made of the Montana marble. Montana marble is made in the USA. From original pen and ink drawing a master etching is made. Molds are made from the master, then a cultured marble slurry is pored in the mold. After marble cures, the piece is painted with permanent ink then wiped with a solvent towel. The ink stays in the etchings.
No two pieces are alike as color and texture of marble varies from stone to stone.
