Imperial Glass Scroll Amber Basket Handle Base Star Burst Pattern Vintage Rare This stunning basket, dating to the 1960s, is a rich amber glass highlighted by raised scrolls over the basket exterior. The handle is substantial and clear amber. Measurements: 6 1/2" Length across the basket, 6 1/2" Tall including the handle, 5 3/8" Wide from handle attachment to handle attachment. The Imperial Glass Company in Bellaire, Ohio, was officially formed from scratch in 1901 but it wasn't until 1903 that production began: within 6 months it was a major manufacturer. The first colored glass was produced in 1909 and decades of expansion and innovation followed. Unfortunately, In 1981 the largest glasshouse in the country fell victim to rising costs and was sold to Lenox. Sold again in 1981, Imperial Glass fell into bankruptcy in 1984.
