This colorful piece came from the Sheila Tarshis Clay Studio, Youngstown, Ohio. Is was thrown and glazed by the artist and sits on a small unglazed pedestal base. Ms. Tarshis was best known for functional stoneware pottery, decorated with colorful glaze and slip trailing in the form of dots, swirls and lines - as you see here. The interior is glazed and the ample handle is ribbed for a secure grip. Ms. Tarshis passed away in 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio. Her works can be found in the American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pomona, California - and in your home if you purchase this mug!
