The Glashütte Eisch was founded in Frauenau, Bavaria, in 1946 by Valentin Eisch, a master engraver whose glassmaking family roots traced back to 1689 in the Bohemian Forest. His son, Erwin Eisch, became the most famous and prolific figure in the family's history, turning the small studio into a world-renowned glass empire. Erwin's interaction with Harvey Littleton in the early 1960s was crucial to developing the studio glass movement in Europe, and today Eisch works are held in major collections worldwide.
