At first, I thought maybe the original glass vase had been damaged and someone MacGyver’d a fix with the base. Inspection reveals this base is by design, as the base of the bottom art glass piece is finished to a smooth end and wrapped with material to sit safely and hold steady in the wrought iron base.

Although it could certainly serve a purpose as a container for any number of goodies, it’s fantastic enough to be displayed for its beauty. Sometimes that is purpose enough.

I do not see any flaws, chips or cracks on this item.
