I have done a lot of research on this bank and it appears to be antique. Circa 1920's. I also believe it to be John Wright. I am able to verify this has many of the attributes of his cast iron banks, but can not find this actual bank. The steer is black on white, with all the patina and wear of history, in tact. This bank has a slot in the top and opens with a screw on the side. This is such a cool item. The details in the way the muscle and skin hang around the various parts of the steer are incredible. I live in Texas and get to see these broad chested beauties quite often. Make sure to check out the photos for a good look at the condition and history. I understand that he has a purple tint in a few photos. This evidently is a screen image issue. If you look to the photos with the ruler, you can see more of his true color.
