This is a VERY Rare Apollo 11, Lunar Landing Patch, from the Needle Painters Guild, Of North Carolina. It is a rare patch commemorating the first lunar landing, on July 20th 1969. Below the patch is embroidered- 'We Came in Peace for All Mankind'

This patch is distinct from the NASA issued patches because it was created in 1969 by the Needle Painters Guild and is based on the NASA issued patch. For Apollo 11, Lion Brothers created the official patches. For Apollo 12 and all US space flight since, Nasa then chose the Needle Painters Guild (which is now known as AB Emblem), to create all the official patches. This patch is framed in a gold-toned plastic frame, as shown and SEALED, as it was when made, with a protective plastic covering and the Guild's sticker on the back. The back also has a purple backing that tells the story of the Guild. Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon.
