This item is an antique Victorian figural napkin ring, constructed of quadruple silver plate & marked hard white metal 90.
Design: Features a figural element, a cherub, child, attached to a decorative ring.
Purpose: Originally used in the 19th century to identify individual napkins between weekly laundry days.
Usage: Commonly given as gifts for christenings, weddings, or holidays.
Approximately 3.5” x 2.5” x 3” tall with lots of aged wear and beautiful patina.
90": Often indicates the amount of silver used in plating, or a specific pattern or model number.
"Hard White Metal": Refers to the base metal alloy (often nickel silver or brass) underneath the silver plating.
