Antique Stanley Bailey Number 5 Woodworking Hand Plane. This is an early Type 9 jack plane, dating from 1910 to 1918. It has been restored, tuned, and guaranteed to be user ready right out of the box. The original blade has seen little use and has basically full length/life remaining. This plane should last for another century with proper care.
Beautifully restored with gorgeous, dark rosewood. The blade has been honed to a mirror finish and razor edge that will tackle the toughest grain. The frog, chip breaker, and lever cap have also been lapped flat to ensure proper seating with no chatter. All screws and brass have been polished to make this plane not only fully functional, but also a pleasure to look at and hold in your hand.
Pay special attention to the photos to see the following three apologies: 1. There is a small, insignificant portion missing from the cheek near the heel of the plane; 2. The screw that holds the small plate for the frog adjustment screw has the head broken. This is holding tight and does not impact the functionality of the frog adjustment screw; 3. The horn of the tote has a seamless repair out of East Indian rosewood. It is well done and can only barely be seen if looking closely at grain direction.
