Details
The item is an antique hand-painted Nippon porcelain bowl featuring a raised relief (moriage) design of nuts and leaves. The "Nippon" mark indicates it was made in Japan between approximately 1891 and 1921. Items with a green "M in Wreath" mark on the bottom were often produced by the Morimura Brothers, who later became Noritake. The bowl has a hand-painted, ethereal autumn-themed design with brown, green, and orange tones. The nuts and some leaf details are applied using the moriage technique, which involves raised enamel work.
