This is an exquisitely beautiful antique piece: the shape alone is outstanding and rare. The "Nipon" mark on the jar assigns its production to a 30-year period from 1891 - 1921 when Japanese porcelain and ceramic wares being imported to the United States were by law marked with the word "Nippon" to satisfy the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890. Measurements: 4 7/8" from top of lid ball to base (lid is recessed), 3" square overall Excellent Condition: no chips, cracks, or crazing. Light wear on gilding appropriate to age of piece.
