7.5"x3.75"x6.5". Authentic antique wooden cigar box manufactured by Merchants Cigar Box Co. of Dallastown, Pennsylvania, featuring original factory and federal tax stamps. This box dates to the early 20th century (circa 1906–1930) and was originally made to hold 50 cigars.
The box is solid wood with dovetail joinery, a hallmark of quality construction from this era. It retains its original stamped markings, including Factory No. 583, 1st District of Pennsylvania, and the federal notice regarding cigar tax compliance and reuse restrictions. These stamps are clear and legible, which significantly adds to its historical and collector value.
The box has been fitted with brass hardware, including a latch and side handles, likely added in the early to mid-20th century when the box was repurposed for storage or keepsakes — a common and desirable practice that adds both charm and functionality.
NOTE wood surface has some scratching as well as a splatter stain of some sort that doesn’t come off with a wet cloth. Needs a little TLC to refresh the surface! Does not include lock/key.
