Antique Linen Embroidered With Signatures (Wedding Guests?)

Full disclosure: I am not 100% sure what this is. My theory is that it is basically a wedding guest book that was intended to be made into something larger, like a quilt. The wedding idea comes from the fact that there are a lot of repeated names (Brokaw and Butcher are the most common ones). There is some brown discoloration from age and one small green stain (please see photos). But I think this is super cool and hopefully someone can do something with it. The piece is 17” x 18” ish. I really wish it had a date on it, but I think it’s legitimately antique or very close.
