$365.00

Details

This stunning, antique, French Opaline, 'soapy' opaline, blue crested, footed, crimped bowl / epergne base bowl, is sure to catch the eye of any collector or decorator. The hand blown glass production technique used to create this bowl showcases the skill and craftsmanship of early glass makers of France. A beautiful blue glass crest, adorns the rim. This type of opaline glass got the term 'soapy opaline' aka: Savonneuse, due to the look of the glass up close-it appears like a a sink of soapy water would appear. It was made Circa 1824 to 1830, in the Charles X Period-making this piece approx. 200 years old! It has a rough pontil scar on the bottom. It originally had a matching epergne horn that sat in the peg hole, but sadly, that must have long ago broke. It is still a very beautiful bowl...and a very rare, piece on it's own. It measures: 4.25 High 7.0" Dia. It is in great condition!!!! Amazing really, for it's age!!
