The is a minor glass defect as seen in pictures. It is not a crack. Fenton Art Glass was an American glass manufacturer founded in 1905 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, by brothers Frank L. and John W. Fenton. They were known for their high-quality, handcrafted art glass, particularly their carnival glass, opalescent glass, and milk glass pieces. The company's designs often featured vibrant colors and intricate patterns, making their products highly sought after by collectors. This particular style of opalescent glass, with its milky white swirls against a vibrant green base, is characteristic of Fenton's mid-century production. The salt and pepper shakers, often made in pairs, were functional decorative items that brought color and artistry into the home. Their opalescent effect, where the white glass appears more opaque and milky, is achieved through a specific cooling process during manufacturing.
