From an Ontario estate sale, a rare 12 plate set of Art Deco Alfred Meakin (Tunstall, England) porcelain 10” dinner plates in very good condition. One plate has a small chip on the underside lip, and most show typical signs of vintage wear, not affecting use or enjoyment. This pattern was discontinued with the outbreak of WWII, though post war Meakin continued under its own name until 1976, when it merged with Myott Potteries. The DUNKIRK design received its Patent Registration in 1933, so not all pieces are from that year. The HARMONY shape is particularly charming, and the cream base is decorated with a border of orange flowers and brown leaves on a beige band. Black panels and light brown scrolls along ring. Scalloped rim with gold trim.

The plates are in good used condition with visible signs of previous use. Vintage crazing is very likely present. Some pattern wear and gold loss is likely. See other pieces from this Art Deco design in my shop.
