Details

5x7 No chips or cracks Greentown Glass Company, located in Greentown, Indiana, was a prominent American glass manufacturer that operated from 1899 to 1903. Despite its short lifespan, it became renowned for its high-quality pressed glass, particularly its "Chocolate" or "Caramel Slag" glass, which was characterized by its opaque, mottled brown and caramel hues. This distinctive glass was used to create a wide array of decorative and functional items, including tableware, animal figures, and household accessories.

Slag glass, a byproduct of the glassmaking process, was often incorporated into decorative glass during the late Victorian era. Greentown's "Chocolate" glass is highly sought after by collectors for its unique color and the intricate patterns pressed into its forms. Items like butter dishes, fruit bowls, and pitchers from this period are considered desirable collectibles, representing a significant era in American glass production.
