P.O.P. Kansas City Souvenir Art Nouveau Glass Tray 1906

Here we have a souvenir, glass tray from the P.O.P. (Priests of Pallas) of Kansas City 1906. This colorful, enameled, Art Nouveau dish is a wonderful piece of Missouri history.

The Priests of Pallas was a week long festival held annually in Kansas City from 1887 until 1912, and revived briefly from 1922 to 1924. Festival supporters set out to promote Kansas City’s image as the “Athens of the West” and to parallel other celebrations such as New Orleans' Mardi Gras and St. Louis’ Veiled Prophet. Pallas Athene was the patroness of the festival and motifs were based loosely on figures from Greek mythology. Festivities included parades with ornate floats, as well as numerous concerts, performances, and exhibitions. Measurements: 6 7/8" by 5 5/8"

Condition: Very good, antique condition. No chips or cracks. There is some enamel worn off one edge of the tray. This can only be seen on the bottom.
