Details
Vinyl plays with occasional light-crackles (play-graded). 12" Single. Cover has a few creases near edges; light-scuffing (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (generic purple). Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear. Shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is mostly crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
One Love (12" Single), by Whodini, is a four-track 12-inch vinyl release featuring various mixes of the group's signature storytelling track, produced with a cinematic electro-funk flair by Larry Smith at Battery Studios in London. The A-side opens with the extended One Love (12" Mix) at 6:40, a poignant narrative of betrayal and heartbreak enhanced by a sampled quip from the TV series Dallas ("Don't mess with the man who killed J.R.!"), followed by the concise One Love (7" Edit) at 4:33, noted as the "7" Mix" on the sleeve. Flipping to the B-side, the One Love (Album Mix) clocks in at 5:32 for a fuller album-oriented experience, while the One Love (Instrumental) at 5:25 strips it down to reveal the track's hard-hitting drum patterns and atmospheric synths. This release stands out historically as an early example of hip-hop's integration of dramatic samples and R&B sensibilities, cementing Whodini's role in evolving rap from party anthems to emotional depth. As a fan-favorite, One Love remains a staple in old-school playlists, often hailed for its innovative production that influenced subsequent narrative-driven rap singles.
