Details
Vinyl plays with occasional light-crackles, with patches of heavier crackles on side 1 due to some surface scuffs (play-graded). Inner sleeve is original (lyrics and photo). Initials written on both sides of label and near bottom-right on back-cover. (Not a cut-out.)
Excitable Boy, by Warren Zevon, includes the top 40 success Werewolves of London and brought Warren to commercial attention and remains the best-selling album of his career, peaking at #8 on Billboard Pop Albums and achieving platinum certification. The tracks Excitable Boy and Werewolves of London were considered macabrely humorous by some critics. The historical Veracruz dramatizes the United States occupation of Veracruz, and likewise Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner is a fictionalization of a mercenary in Africa. Lawyers, Guns and Money is a tongue-in-cheek take on Cold War paranoia. In addition, there are two ballads about life and relationships (Accidentally Like a Martyr and Tenderness on the Block), as well as a dance tune (Nighttime in the Switching Yard). In all there were five singles released from this album. Linda Rondstadt and Jennifer Warnes provided harmony vocals for the single Excitable Boy. Jackson Browne, who co-produced this album, also appears as part of The Gentlemen Boys who provide harmony vocals on about half the tracks.
