Music For Mandolin And Guitar Ensemble, by Vinzenz Hladky, is a 1968 vinyl release featuring a collection of classical works by composers such as Fabrizio Caroso, Simone Molinaro, Vincenzo Galilei, Jean-Baptiste Besard, and Bernardino Gianoncelli. Recorded with harp and harpsichord accompaniment, the album showcases Renaissance and Baroque dance music, with tracks like Andantino by Caroso and Allegro by Gianoncelli highlighting the ensemble’s delicate interplay of plucked strings. Its historical significance lies in its revival of early music performed on period-appropriate instruments, contributing to the 1960s early music movement that sought to authentically recreate historical performance practices. The album, released on the Turnabout label, is noted for its influence on later works, such as inspiring Ottorino Respighi’s suites of ancient airs and dances. No specific tracks from this album are identified as hit singles in available sources, as it primarily appeals to niche classical and early music audiences rather than mainstream charts.
