Vintage Wood Ruler COLCHESTER SPADING BOOT Advertising 15" - New Bremen NY RARE!

Vintage 15-inch hardwood ruler featuring advertising on both sides for the COLCHESTER SPADING BOOT made by Colchester Rubber Company. Also has advertising for Charles E. Searls... a boot and shoes dealer in New Bremen, New York. The Colchester Spading Boot is noted to be “Especially desirable for Farmers, Railroad Men and others” and the boot bottom tread is shown. Colchester Rubber Company manufactured high end rubber footwear for men, women and children. Their specialty products were work boots for cold and wet weather, rain boots and galoshes. The company was acquired by The United States Rubber Company in 1892 and closed the following year in 1893... although they co-branded name on some products in later years. The Colchester Spading Boot advertised on this ruler is an example, as it was still being advertised as a Colchester product in 1894. This item is in good overall condition with some wear from age and use. Lettering lightly faded. Very small crack on one end as shown. Metal edge intact and straight. See pics for more details.
