Vintage VILLEROY & BOCH mint green and white porcelain creamer made in Mettlach, France-Saar. At the end of World War II, the Saarland region of Germany became a French protectorate, and from 1947-56 this autonomous region was in a customs and economic union with France. That region included Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach and this beautiful porcelain creamer was produced during that period as indicated by the bottom stamp which reads “Made in France-Saar Economic Union”. It wasn’t until 1957 that control of the Saar reverted back to what was then West Germany.
Creamer is in very good overall condition with only light wear from use. Gold edge highlights along top rim and handle with some wear from handling as shown. Very tiny chip along the top edge of the spout as shown. Item displays very well. Some crazing to glaze which is typical for older porcelain items. Measures 3.5” diameter not including spout and handle, and about 5” with them included. See pics for more details.
