The tiles have a white background—the first depicts two hummingbirds perched on a branch with green leaves and red flowers. The top of their head is covered with red feathers. Their wings are blue-green with a yellow patch on the breast. The second tile depicts two different birds, the first sitting higher on a branch has red feathers on its head & throat, with a yellow body and brown wings. The second bird has brown feathers from the head to the tail, with a yellow body. It is perched on a tree branch.
The transfer artwork is a copy of ornithologist John Gould's (1804-1881) life's work, who produced 50 oversize volumes between 1830 and 1881. His beautiful drawings assured his popularity among a wealthy clientele, while the reliable scientific information in his tomes ensured broader commercial success. Now available in the public domain, his work is still used commercially.

Give me a dusty thrift store, a curious cat, and anything Edwardian to Mid Century, that’s my happy place! I love discovering the unexpected — treasures with stories waiting for their next chapter. The “boss,” Larry, arrived as a foster a year ago, I foster failed-again. What can I say? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area where the variety of sourcing is amazing & am always happy to hunt that special item for you. I look forward to getting to know the community and collaborating on some fun shenanigans! New to District? Make your first purchase with an introductory $5 discount THENIF95
