Postcard from the New York 1939 World's Fair.
Title of this sculpture is A Wanton Loss Of Lawlessness by Jan Bouda.
The fair opened in April of 1939. Prior to that Czechoslovakia had been invaded by Germany and was no longer an independent country. That is why the caption says participation as they were not there at that time as an officially recognized nation.
This piece was done by Jan Bouda as a statement against the Nazi occupation. There are no records what happened to this when the fair ended. Research came up with fact that he died in 1944 in Dresden.
This is a glossy finish card, does have some slight marks on the surface, some very minor edge wear. Overall in very good condition.
A unique addition for collectors of World’s Fair, Czech history, or pre‑war European art.
