This is a Navajo ring crafted by artist R. Bennett, featuring a large turquoise stone and a sterling silver setting. The ring is signed by the artist and is considered a valuable piece of Native American jewelry. The turquoise stone is likely from the Royston mine in Nevada. R. Bennett is a listed silversmith in Barton Wright's "Hallmarks of the Southwest". The ring's design features a braided border around the stone and a wide band. Artist: Raymond Bennett, a Navajo silversmith. Signature: Signed with "R. Bennett". He began using “R. Bennett or Ray Bennett” in 1978. At one time Ray was the resident silversmith for Atkinson’s Trading Company. Carico Lake is a turquoise that comes from a large active mine in Nevada. In the last twenty years it has been mined sporadically so it is a relatively scarce turquoise. The green and blue-green spider web turquoise has a unique matrix and is one of the finest turquoise in North America. The colors and scarcity of Carico Lake turquoise make it a valuable addition to any collection.
