This is a vintage family of three elephant figurines, all waving their trunks! Made in Japan, probably during the 1960s, these porcelain pachyderms were hand painted. Mama has a loop in her neck, and both of her babies are chained to her. These elephants were just left white, but they have been given speckles of shiny gold gilding on their ears and sides. Mama has a little extra decoration, as she has patches of textured porcelain "spaghetti" on her body, as well as a massive fancy hat, complete with applied flowers! Condition: This set of figurines is in excellent shape! There are no chips, cracks, or any other damage that I could find on any of them. Even all of the little tiny applied flowers and pointy spaghetti seems to be completely intact! The set is unmarked, with just a simple "Made in Japan" sticker on Mama. Although a lot of companies made similar elephant families, like TILSO and NAPCO, this set does resemble the ones made by a company called Fairyland the most. I do not believe this set was made by Fairyland - it looks a little bit newer and is lacking the level of detail they seemed to use, but I do think it was closely "inspired" by their sets! Size: Mama measures about 3 ½" across the widest point and sits 5½" tall, while her babies are just under 3" tall.
