This is a vintage ashtray, made out of shells and... a kitten?! Probably dating from the 1960s, this unique piece would have been sold as a souvenir. Of where? Pick a beach! Why is a little kitten on a hot pink gravel beach you may ask? Why not! You really can't get more kitschy, and dare I say whimsical, than this piece! Condition: This ashtray is in Excellent shape! The kitten is damage free, other than a tiny bit of discoloration from the adhesive they used. The structural shells are also very well off, without any cracking or missing chunks. The gravel does appear to have a little bit of yellowing, again, probably from the adhesive, but it's still extremely PINK. I don't think it was ever used as an ashtray, as there was no odor or residue, thank goodness! I would like to point out that the little painted decorative shells near the kitten are as complete as they were originally. Someone was NOT attaching their "good" whole shells to this one, they were just using their leftovers! That's okay though, I admire the thriftiness... Size: It measures 3¾" long, is about 2" wide, and stands just over 2¼" tall. P.S. They even tucked a little faux pearl in there!
