Such a gem! From my research, I believe this is most likely 14 karat gold plated, as these “lover’s knots” were almost always made with plated gold. The opal, to my knowledge is genuine and definitely has fire. They used opals or diamonds on these brooches. Needs some TLC polish/cleaning, as I just gently wiped it.
