This is a lovely antique bracelet acquired from an estate sale it is in very nice condition given its age. The buckle belt design was highly popular during the Victorian and Edwardian Era. They symbolize eternal binding love and were often gifted between close friends or lovers. The buckle design also is a sign of unbreakable loyalty. This is why you see many variations of the style used as wedding bands and friendship rings or bracelets spanning many decades. In the Victorian Era, when they made their debut, the buckle was often worn to symbolize and endure the memory of the bereaved. Buckle jewelry was thought to be a tangible connection to the deceased and was worn to bring comfort for those grieving.
