Details
Vinyl plays nicely; a few light hairlines (play-graded). Double LP. Cover has a few creases near edges; scuffing (front/back); some surface abrasions on from. Inner-sleeves are original (generic white). Spine is easy-to-read with wear. Noticeable shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
I'm Gettin' Sentimental Over You, by Tommy Dorsey, is a two-LP compilation release that assembles 14 timeless tracks from the band's 1930s and 1940s RCA Victor catalog, with the unique twist of featuring a mature Frank Sinatra re-recording vocals on four of his original hits from that era (This Love of Mine, Be Careful, It's My Heart, Star Dust, and The Song Is You) using the same iconic arrangements, creating a poignant reunion over three decades later. The album opens with the orchestra's signature instrumental I'm Gettin' Sentimental Over You and includes Sinatra's classic wartime ballad I'll Never Smile Again—a massive hit that topped the charts for 20 weeks—alongside lush standards like Sleepy Lagoon and Tea for Two, while fan-favorites among the all-instrumental Side D selections feature the high-energy swing of Boogie Woogie, Royal Garden Blues, and Opus No. 1. Historically significant for bridging the big band era's golden age with its nostalgic revival in the 1970s, the stereo-remastered set preserves the sophisticated Dorsey sound that defined American dance music before the war and launched Sinatra's stardom. Devoted listeners cherish the Sinatra tracks for their emotional depth, evoking the magic of his early days with the band, while the full collection stands as an essential document of swing's enduring legacy.
