Special Delivery - It's a Girl by Lori C. Mitchell. German Folklore informs us that households would notify the stork when they wanted children by placing sweets on their windowsills. The stork would 'find' the babies in a cave or marsh and then bring them to expectant parents in a basket held in their beaks. It's nothing like how we really get new babies, but the sweet history associated with this folklore makes for a terrific figure called "SPECIAL DELIVERY-IT'S A GIRL."
