Santa Clara Pueblo Burnished Blackware Seed Pot signed Genevieve Suazo

Santa Clara Pueblo Burnished Blackware Seed Pot with a bear design. The pot measures 3 3/4" across and 1 1/2" tall. The smooth finish was accomplished by rubbing a smooth rock against the pot for a very long time. The pot is signed by the well-known potter Genevieve Suazo. Genevieve Suazo was born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1935 and passed on in 2016. She seems to have mostly made black-on-black jars and bowls, decorating them with the avanyu, cloud symbols, animals and geometric designs. Please note the section on the top that did not heat smooth when firing. It is just a natural consequence of the process sometimes.
