Spine is easy-to-read with mild wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use. (Notch in bottom-left.)
Smoke From a Distant Fire, by Sanford And Townsend, is a standout example of blue-eyed soul, blending Southern soul with polished L.A. production. Recorded at the iconic Muscle Shoals Sound Studios under the guidance of legendary producer Jerry Wexler and co-producer Barry Beckett, it captured the duo’s tight harmonies and professional musicianship. The title track, Smoke From a Distant Fire, became their only Top 40 hit, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1977, driven by its evocative lyrics inspired by a college poem about infidelity. Despite the album’s critical acclaim and strong radio presence during the summer of 1977, subsequent releases failed to replicate its success, cementing the band’s status as a one-hit wonder. The album remains a cult favorite among 1970s pop and yacht rock enthusiasts, praised for its timeless sound and contributions from notable figures like Kenny Loggins.
