Details
Vinyl plays nicely (play-graded). Cover has light-scuffing, some surface abrasion near front top center and bottom edge on back, and a few surface impressions (front/back); back has a few creases. Inner-sleeve is original (lyrics). Spine is easy-to-read with mild wear. Little shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and a few tiny divots. (Notch in bottom-left.)
Duo Glide, by Sanford And Townsend, is a yacht rock and pop rock record featuring ten tracks of polished, soul-inflected Southern California rock. Despite the duo’s earlier success with their 1976 hit Smoke from a Distant Fire, which reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, Duo Glide failed to replicate that commercial triumph, marking a decline in the band’s mainstream popularity. The album includes the single Eye of My Storm (Oh Woman), which saw limited chart success, overshadowed by the shifting musical landscape as punk and new wave gained traction. Tracks like Paradise, Cryin’ Like a Child, and Sometimes When the Wind Blows showcase the duo’s signature harmonies and lyrical storytelling, earning praise for their musical range despite the album’s lack of widespread impact. Historically, Duo Glide reflects the challenges faced by blue-eyed soul acts navigating the late 1970s music scene, with its release coinciding with a cultural pivot away from the band’s smooth, soulful style.
