About The Record:

Robin Lane And The Chartbusters, marked the debut full-length effort from the Boston-based new wave band she formed in 1978 after relocating from California and shifting from folk-rock to a punk-infused rock sound. Featuring a lineup including former Modern Lovers guitarist Leroy Radcliffe, the album blends jangly guitars, dynamic hooks, and Lane's husky, ambivalent vocals on themes of relational turmoil across tracks like When Things Go Wrong, Why Do You Tell Me Lies, It'll Only Hurt A Little While, and the fan-favorite I Don't Want To Know. A unique fact is that the opening track When Things Go Wrong evolved from Lane's earlier folk demo Never Enough, which had been covered by the Pousette-Dart Band. Historically significant for capturing the vibrant early-1980s Boston music scene and earning a Warner Bros. deal after impressing producer Jerry Wexler, the record also gained early video exposure that helped define the band's enduring cult status.
