The Yard Went On Forever, is the second album by Irish actor and singer Richard Harris, released in 1968 by Dunhill Records, featuring songs written, arranged, and produced by Jimmy Webb. This Baroque Pop album, backed by the Wrecking Crew, is noted for its lush orchestrations and Harris’s dramatic vocal delivery, which some found polarizing but others praised for its emotive sophistication. Critics, like Bruce Eder from AllMusic, lauded its vivid imagery and rich production, comparing it favorably to Harris’s debut, A Tramp Shining. The album track Lucky Me was highlighted as a “shimmering gem” by Billboard, though it did not chart as prominently as MacArthur Park from his prior album. Historically significant for its collaboration with Webb at the peak of his songwriting, the album remains a cult classic, though it never achieved the commercial success of its predecessor.
