Details
This unique wood serving tray with carved, hand painted playing cards around the rim is very rare. In all of my decades of thrifting I have never seen another one like it. The colors of the cards are not faded with the exception of the Queen of Spades - the red outlining the Queen is lighter than the other cards.
This type of serving tray was popular during the mid-20th century. Playing cards have a long history, originating in China and evolving through various cultures before becoming standarized in the West. Their association with games of chance and skill has made them a recurring motif in decorative arts, symbolizing leisure, luck and social gatherings.
The tray measures 12" in diameter. I has one small chip in the center of the plate that is hardly noticable, otherwise it is in pristine condition.

Selling since December 2025
I have been an avid thrifter and collector for decades. I can spend hours scouring flea markets, thrift shops, Goodwill and estate sales and do just that on most weekends. My home is an eclectic mix of my many finds and probably decorated with 80% previously loved furniture, art and decorations. MCM holds a special place in my heart - there's just something about the clean lines of the furniture and the whimsy of the decorative pieces that brings me so much happiness. This is my first foray into online selling, but I'm very excited to share the treasures I find and to be included in this community.
