Great item for a railroad collection!! Very Rare Vintage Henry Giessel Company Railroad Safe Drinking Water Can Type 28 made in Chicago, Illinois. Henry Giessel was known for safe drinking water on railroad cars and even wrote a book... “The Sanitary Handling of Drinking Water on Common Carriers”. This item is 100% complete and in very good overall condition. A few very minor barely noticeable dents to the heavy galvanized metal... and little to no rust from top to bottom. Spring loaded top lid opens as normal and chained metal strainer basket underneath is fine. Chained copper spout cap looks great and strainer underneath is fine. Water can’s wood carrying handle intact and very good with only light wear to black paint. Waterproofing compound where spout connects to can and a few places around top section seals of the can. Measures about 15.5” high including spout, and can diameter is about 10.25”. Weighs about 10 pounds not including box and materials for shipping. See pics for more details and zoom in for closeups.
