Using a mirror I drafted a portrait of how I view myself including the internalized dehumanization that I’ve been subjugated too. Including layers of how others have poorly villainize me to the alienation that people at the intersections have chipped away our collective self esteem from rehumanizing our identities. I’ve often struggled with the fear of how others perceive me, from those are in shock, awe, disgusted, angry and often living with shame of not being smiled back as others microagressions towards me. While leading portrait classes with venture house’s members serving New Yorkers with severe mental illness, to have a showcase exhibition at JCAL’s galleries. On 1960s vibrations and pop culture references on how we would define ourselves in non humanoid forms both the villian and the superhero.
