Details
Vinyl plays with some crackles and a few light-clicks (play-graded). Cover has a few creases near edges (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (Casablanca); two seams partially split. Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is mostly crisp with signs of some use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
Our Ms. Brooks by Pattie Brooks is a bold concept album that cast the singer as a glamorous Hollywood starlet recounting her dramatic life story through a blend of soaring disco, soulful ballads, and theatrical interludes. The record stands out for its ambitious narrative structure, complete with spoken-word vignettes and sound effects that mimic old Hollywood films, making it one of the rare disco-era albums to function almost like a musical theater piece. Among the fan-favorites are the euphoric eight-minute opener After Dark (a staple in underground disco circles), the emotional torch song The Back-up Singer, and the playful Let’s Make Love to the Music. Perhaps the most historically significant moment is the closing medley This Is the House Where Love Died, which many consider one of the most heartbreaking and cinematic farewells in disco history. The album’s lead single After Dark became a major club anthem and peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Disco chart.
