This beautiful pair of small vintage jugs from Gray's Pottery (who also used a stamp of Old Castle Pottery for items headed to North America) is a wonderful decorative addition for a mid-century collector. The purple copper lustre features two different Gray's Pottery patterns: first, the A9525 pattern that features landscapes and was called Cottage Style; the second, the A8831 pattern that features a sailing ship/clipper in a color monograph. Crafted in Stoke-on-Trent, England between 1936-1940, these jugs are both 2.2 inches high, 2.75 inches long, and 2.1 inches wide. They weigh 5.1 ounces as a pair and have printed backstamps - one for Gray's Pottery (the ship) and one for Old Castle (the landscape).
Each jug is in excellent used condition. There are no chips or cracks on either. The landscape jug looks brand new; the ship jug has some spots inside and crazing of the glaze.
