New Martinsville / Viking Glass "Nymph" or Lady Head Art Nouveau Bookends 1940s

$150.00

Details

New Martinsville / Viking clear glass Nymph/lady head bookends. The glass quality of this set is crystal clear, they really stand out from other glass when you see them side by side. These were produced in the 1940s when New Martinsville became Viking Glass. The women's upturned faces are very 1940s in style and have a semi abstract modern Art Nouveau vibe. These are heavy bookends, each weighs over 3 lbs. and can easily hold a number of books. These are one of the rarest of the NM/Viking bookends.

Size: approx. 5″ h x 4.5" l x 3.25″ w

Condition*: There is a small flake on the backside of one of the bases, see photos. It is not very noticeable & I don't feel that it detracts from the beauty of the piece.

Keats said "A thing of beauty is a joy forever". Each of us has a different idea of what "beauty" is. I find unique vintage items and offer them to you, the beholder.

A Thing of Beauty Vintage Finds

    Selling since November 2023

Hi, I'm Cynthia. I am a shop owner with 10+ years of experience. I do everything within my power, including packing with great care and shipping fully insured, to get your "thing of beauty" to you safely. I shop the fine estate sales and auctions in the horse country of north Georgia, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and bring them to you, the beholder.

I was raised in a home where bone china, silver and fine crystal were both used and appreciated. This translated into a love of antiques and handmade items of similar quality. I love the journey that leads me to these beautiful things and I hope you will enjoy my "finds" as much as I have enjoyed finding them.

Please feel free to reach out to me via text or email with any questions you may have. I am frequently hiking on the weekends so your best chance of a speedy response will be during weekday business hours.

Follow me on FB and Instagram where I share additional information on the creation/history of my items.

Helping you find your thing of beauty, Cynthia
