About The Record:

Steppin' Out, was Neil Sedaka's third and final album with The Rocket Record Company in the U.S., marking the end of his comeback trilogy that began with Sedaka's Back and The Hungry Years. The album, issued on Polydor outside the U.S., featured a mix of pop and soft rock, with Sedaka collaborating with lyricists Howard Greenfield and Phil Cody, and included backing vocals by Elton John on the title track. Historically significant for its role in Sedaka's 1970s resurgence, it was promoted with an NBC-TV primetime special titled Steppin' Out, though it received mixed reviews, with critics noting a lack of memorable tunes compared to his earlier work. Hit singles included Love in the Shadows, which peaked at No. 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and You Gotta Make Your Own Sunshine, reaching No. 52 on the U.S. pop charts. The song Bad And Beautiful gained popularity among fans in Mexico and Latin America, and was notably reworked as the ending theme for the 1985 anime Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
