About The Record:

Monie In The Middle (12" Single), by Monie Love, stands out as a vibrant 12" maxi-single showcasing the British rapper's sharp lyricism and genre-blending style, featuring the titular lead track in multiple remixed versions that highlight its infectious energy and call-and-response hooks. Unique facts include production errors on the sleeve and vinyl labeling for some tracks, such as the "Revised Organ Edit" mistakenly listed for the 12" Version, adding a quirky collector's charm to this specially priced release. Historically significant for its contribution to early 1990s hip-hop, the single features collaboration with legendary producer Afrika Baby Bambaataa on the bonus track Dettrimentally Stable, underscoring Love's ties to hip-hop's foundational figures. Popular songs and fan-favorites from the tracklist encompass the extended remixes like The Hot Shot Mix and The Orr Some Remix of the lead single, alongside the reflective Roots and the playful B-side Dettrimentally Stable, which resonate with admirers of her conscious lyricism. The instrumental versions, including the Lavendar Hill Instrumental, further enhance its appeal for DJs and crate-diggers seeking versatile cuts.
