About The Record:

Another Night, by Hollies, is the 15th UK studio album by the English rock/pop band The Hollies, marking the return of lead vocalist Allan Clarke, who rejoined in 1974 after a solo career. The album, primarily composed of original material by the Clarke-Hicks-Sylvester songwriting team, features a notable cover of Bruce Springsteen’s 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy), making The Hollies one of the first prominent bands to record a Springsteen song. Despite positive reviews from outlets like Phonograph Records and Record Mirror, the album was not a commercial success in the UK but charted in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, supported by tours in those regions. Hit singles from the album include I’m Down, a ballad that flopped in the UK but reached No. 4 in New Zealand and was a hit in Australia and the Netherlands, 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy), which became a Top 10 hit in the Netherlands (No. 8) and New Zealand (No. 12), and the title track Another Night, which peaked at No. 71 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album’s historical significance lies in its early adoption of Springsteen’s work and its reflection of The Hollies’ attempt to adapt their sound to the mid-1970s pop-rock landscape, though it fell short of recapturing their earlier commercial peak.
